Day 2. Look look! We have pictures. On the top left of this page you can see the flickr badge with images of what is happening here in Berlin. Other technicalities of the day: we have backdrops for the interviews, we still don't know how a Panasonic DV camera can talk to Mac OS 10.5, but we are seeing NGBK technician Kirsten (who replaces Karsten) tomorrow, and Frauke already saved the day by lending us a Grundig DV camera that does talk to a Mac.
Fellow campaigner Mauricio, who claims never to have had a job but still earns a living, told us about the economic crash of the late 90s in Argentina. Apparently because money lost its value, people had to start thinking in different ways about what they really value in life, also in terms of occupation. Interesting. He himself wants to get involved in City Mine(d)'s mission of turning a waffle into a house, an ongoing endeavour City Mine(d) launched in London in January 2008 and which is turning into a slight obsession.
We also finally made it to actually emailing people. Our plan now is to first talk to the actual providers of public goods, like artists and activists, and to researchers, in order to be more prepared to face HR departments when we really apply for jobs. We contacted prof Penta at DICO at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences; and prof Häussermann at Institut für Sozialwissenschaften at Humboldt in the hope we can interview them about public goods. We also wrote to reboot.fm and to Beobachter der Bediender von Machinen as first examples of public good providers. More soon.
