It’s not that there is not enough talk about the economy: newspapers burst from it, government declarations spill over from it, and researchers tear their –and at times each other’s- hair out over it. How can it be, for instance, that in Brussels, third richest region in Europe, one in four families postpones medical care for financial reasons?
That is why City Mine(d) launched MICRONOMICS: a cultural programme mixing state and street with pop and politics to highlight the role of small scale creative initiatives and to create a platform from which these initiatives can develop.
To its track record of initiatives in Brussels and London, consisting of an investigative research resulting in a dvd, two festivals combining debate with creation and presentation, and a weekly market called MicroMarcheMidi, it currently adds an inquiry into the creation of public goods in Berlin.
Because,
“we’re all making the economy, stupid!”
